Why do I constantly receive email that my Centova server has restarted?

The restarts can occur because of a few reasons.

Hackers, scammers, and viruses are created constantly so we work hard protecting you, your files, and the system as well.

When there is a system or security update, a restart is necessary for the update to take effect. Much like when you add music to a playlist you have to restart your server for that or any changes you make to take effect. We try to do server updates during off-peak hours usually around 4:00 am CST. However, there are times we must do an update and restart at other times. These processes are very expensive but protecting you is worth it to us. Another cause basically means that  SHOUTcast DNAS or IceCast crashed.  Centova Cast is not the problem here -- it's just reporting what happened, and telling you that it restarted SHOUTcast/IceCast so that it didn't remain down.

Our clients often mistakenly believe that Centova Cast is the cause of the problem since Centova Cast notified them of the problem, but it's important to avoid shooting the messenger, as the saying goes.

DNAS, DNAS2, and sctrans2 all have known crash bugs at this time, with DNAS2 and sctrans2 being the most commonly affected.  Since DNAS, DNAS2, and sctrans2 are NOT our products and we do NOT have any access to their source code, there is nothing we can do about any bugs in their code.  The only option we have in this regard is to wait for a fix from Radionomy (who recently purchased the SHOUTcast intellectual property rights) or switch to IceCast.

[Centova Email functions are currently disabled]  Therefore, the reset password function is not operable so if you forget your password and need to reset it, you will need to contact us to do it manually for you.
